SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHERS' VIEWS ON VALUES EDUCATION IN THE COVID-19 PANDEMIA PROCESS

Pandemic; is that an epidemic exceeds a certain region and affects all humanity. The coronavirus case seen in Wuhan, China in the last months of 2019, Covid 19, spread around the world in a short time and affected all faith. Due to Covid 19, formal education was suspended in most of the countries and in our country and distance education was started. The purpose of this study is to determine the opinions of social studies teachers on values ​​education in the distance education process. The research has been studied with the holistic multi-case study method, which is one of the basic qualitative research methods. Maximum diversity sampling, one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used in the study. In the 2020-2021 academic year, 15 social studies teachers working in a city in the Central Anatolia Region in the fall term constitute the study group of the research. The research data were collected using semi-structured interview forms that consist of open-ended questions developed by the researcher. Content analysis method was used in the analysis of the collected data. The findings obtained within the scope of the research show that values ​​education is not effective in social studies lessons conducted on online platforms. During the distance education period, it was determined that social studies teachers used character education, moral reasoning and value indoctrination approaches from values education approaches in values education. It has been found that the biggest problem that social studies teachers experience in values education is absenteeism, and parents have an indifferent attitude towards values education. Suggestions were made at the point of providing family-school-teacher cooperation and communication on online platforms and completing the technological deficiencies of the students.
