MIND MAPPING AS AN INNOVATIVE TEACHING METHOD AND ITS USAGE IN RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

In our education system, for a while, a teaching approach, which is named as “conventional teaching” has been adopted, and teaching techniques suitable for this approach have been used at schools for many years. As a natural result of this approach, an education system; focusing on teacher centered method in that students rarely use their intelligence, based on memorization rather than productivity, monotonous teaching and dealing with individual differences limitedly has emerged. However, there has been some fast changes in the world that we live in numerous fields due to the modern technological progress and by the way there has been also some changes in the perspective on life of people and accordingly the perception of education as a natural result of this process. In this regard, in our age the education which is taught to the students and the talents with should be advanced are differentiated substantially rather than the conventional process. Thus, data is not only complicated but also intense in our time. Complicated and intense data makes necessary to be improved new techniques and methods for the individuals who will get and teach it. This paper aims to introduce mind maps as a means which are not used widely in our country and the examples of mind maps for religious education.
